Best Performance
Morocco cruised past the Democratic Republic of Congo 5-2 on aggregate in their final qualification tie to make it to their 6th World Cup finals, and their second in succession. In their 8 games, they won all but one match, scoring 25 goals along the way and conceding just 3, and morale is good as they aim to get past the group stages of the World Cup for the first time since 1986. They earned just a single point in the last edition 4 years ago, though that came against Spain who equalized in stoppage time. Previous to that, they conceded to Iran with virtually the last kick of the game, and lost just 0-1 to a Cristiano Ronaldo goal against Portugal. Earlier this year, they were knocked out the African Cup of Nations to Egypt at the Quarter Final stage, a 1-2 extra time defeat.
Player to Watch
At the age of 23, Hakimi has already picked up a host of titles in three different countries, including the league titles in Italy and France, the German Supercup whilst playing at Dortmund, and the UEFA Champions League whilst at Real Madrid. Morocco are not a side to be underestimated should such superstars be playing for their nation, despite the fall out between the manager and some internationals such as Hakim Ziyech.
